I knew I wanted Ariel on mine, because she is my favorite princess. So I grabbed one of my insanely artistic friends, promised to make her brownies, and set her to work on my Magic Band. She is super amazing and willingly painted this beautiful princess on my ocean blue band.

We just used nail polish for the design and paintbrushes I bought at the Dollar Store. After a bit of sketches, we agreed on a design, turned on Netflix(old Star Trek reruns, of course) and a few hours later, this incredible band emerged. I cannot wait to wear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She made it sparkle like the ocean and added bubbles! Isn't she the best? :) |
There are many things you can do to decorate your band. Nail polish worked the best for me, and I have heard it is better than glitter and Modgpodge. But there are so many amazing things you can do with your band. Make it sparkle, add some crystals, paint your favorite character. Your Magic Band can be a representation of you! And if you are going to wear it for 10 days, make sure you love it ;) I love mine and can't wait to wear it!
Nicely done! I am working on mine right now. A retro look with the old disney world logo. 2 questions for you. 1. Does painting the whole band interfere with the signal in any way? 2. Did you use anything to coat it afterward so it doesn't wear off?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! Great to have you :) Honestly, I don't have firsthand experience answers to your questions at the moment. However, I did extensive research before painting mine, and everyone said that nail polish will not interfere with the readers. And working with MB and the Touch To Pay points every single day, I don't think it will harm it at all :) For #2, I used a clear top coat on top. I let the band dry for 24 hours, and then applied it to reduce smudging. I have been putting more clear coats on every few days for a week, so hopefully no cracking :) We check in soon, so I will have first hand experience for your questions eventually! :)
DeleteFun to meet you today, Disney Lizzie!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your novel.
Hello Rita! I really enjoyed meeting you too :) Let me know if you are ever in Florida!
DeleteDo you have an update on this, Lizzie? How did the nail polish hold up to being bent and constantly used?
ReplyDeleteHello Jenelle! Thank you so much for stopping by :) I do have an update for you! The nail polish held up great for the entirety of my trip, a full week of constant use. I have been using it fairly often since that week three months ago. The nail polish on the outside of the band, such as the ocean and bubbles part, is starting to crack. Ariel, however, is as beautiful as the day she was painted. I am happy with how the nail polish has worked, and I must admit, I think part of the cracking is that I have left it in my car in the boiling Florida sun for hours. However, for a week or two of constant use, the nail polish works beautifully and looks amazing :) Let me know if you have any other questions!
